Topp Contractors is located in Rotherham, North Canterbury, New Zealand. It is owned and operated by Geoff Topp.

Geoff grew up on his family farm in Rotherham. His father Ray operated a header on the property as well as contracting to other farmers. The amount of work grew which lead to expansion of adding trucks and other machinery. The business still remained a very family orientated business. Geoff's mother Gwen, handled customer service and Ray drove and priced work. Geoff and Barry, (Geoff's brother) drove stock and bulk trucks. Uncle Tommy Topp operated and drove a freight truck that did a daily freight run from Rotherham to Christchurch and home everyday servicing surrounding areas.

 

The business out-grew the family farm and then Geoff purchased land located closer to Rotherham to build a larger and more convenient transport yard. Geoff moved from full-time driving to managing the day to day operations. The better location and Geoff's more hands on approach grew the business to employing more staff and therefore adding more equipment.

It is still very much a family orientated business employing friendly, professional staff who are all considered part of the success of the business it is today.

Topp Contractors has been operating for over 30 years and has seen many changes in the Hurunui area.

​

Geoff has an extremely good knowledge of the local area. He has worked with many people, farmers and contractors over the years locally and wider New Zealand. His wife Tracey works in administration. They have two boys, Drew and Logan who are very much a part of the future success of the business.
